Layperson’s I – Section 1 – Benefits of the Cross Forum
Layperson’s I - Section 1 - Benefits of the Cross ONLINE FORUM INTERACTION EXPECTATIONS -09-09-15 Online Forum Interaction Expectations
- Discussion questions are designed to help the course be interactive as well as to help make the content more personal. This is a GRADED portion of your assignments.
- Each primary post (your first response to the course assigned question) is required to have an open-ended question (a question without a “yes” or “no” answer) included at the end of the post for others to respond to. This question is NOT to be rhetorical or sarcastic in its tone.
- Plan to spend time on the discussion board at least twice per week at a minimum. You will need to make your original post no later than Sunday of every week in order to give everyone a chance to respond to your ideas and others’ before the forum closes. Every Thursday there is a new forum question. The forum closes on the following Wednesday.
- Posts should be personable AND professional. Do not post anything that you or others would be embarrassed or bothered to see out on the web.
- The expectation is that you will post your own response to the listed question and then INTERACT in meaningful ways with at least one of your peers in your assigned discussion group. (“Good post” or “I agree” type comments do not count as an interaction. They are nice pieces of encouragement! )
- The expectation is that you will read ALL of the posts.
- “Texting” is great for use with a cell phone. It is not appropriate for a discussion board. Facebook style posts are also NOT appropriate.
- Rules of Engagement: The tone of every post should be professional and NOT personally attacking in any way. The goal is not for everyone to agree but for everyone to handle disagreement in a Christ-like manner. (It is appropriate to “mix it up” a bit by taking an opposing view.)
- Phil is on vacation. A discussion forum is not the place for advice or counsel. If that need arises, please handle it through private e-mail or discussion with Pastor Walker.
- Opinions or responses without appropriate academic research, support, or reasoning are really just taking up space. Come to the discussion prepared and with something meaningful to say. (Each original post should be no longer than one well-constructed.
