Hebrews 4:11(KJV), “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” God rested on the seventh day, not because he was tired but because he was finished. Jesus completed his assignment on Earth when he went to the cross, died and rose again. As believers, we can labour to enter into the rest of the finished works of our Savior, Jesus! According to, Galatians 1:3-7, we were called into the Grace of Christ (Gospel of Christ), which made everything (ex. Prosperity, Healing, Power etc.) available to us because of His unmerited favor. The highest faith we as believers can operate in is rest, because it requires us to have confidence in it. Hebrews 10:35, tells us that our confidence has great recompence of reward.

It is important to note that unbelief can prevent us from entering in to the rest of Jesus and cause us to fall from grace. Our faith (not self-effort) must remain at labour to receive what God has already done and to enter into the rest of Jesus. Hebrews 4:3 (KJV), “For we which have believed do enter into rest…” We can rest when we rely upon the finish work that Jesus did at Calvary and continues to carry on as our Shepard, intercessor, advocate and high priest.

Sister, Jesus Finish work has released onto us all that we need on this earth, He has redeemed us from all the works of the enemy. He has blessed us with all spiritual blessing. He has broken down the wall, that we can go boldly before the throne of grace, and obtain mercy and find help in time of need. He did it all for you and me.

Rhonda isn’t it awesome to have knowledge and wisdom in the things of God. This takes us to a higher level, a level of undiluted confidence. I greatly desire this year, “The Year The Faithful Shall Flourish” to be my year. So, I must rest in Jesus’s finish works. Also, it is really nice to not have to worry.

This is very serious and important sister Rhonda, It is important to understand that unbelief can prevent us from entering in to the rest of Jesus and cause us to fall from grace. Which means falling back into our own dependence. We must have faith in God to handle our affairs. Our faith must remain at labour to receive what God has already done and to enter into the rest of Jesus.

Very good point you make Mrs. Rhonda about our labour only being in faith to believe God is able and willing. Truth be told to labor in faith is often timez so much harder than physical labor. Being still requires not skill, only will. I pray each day that the lord will continue to help me in this area…Its a tough one for me.

Hebrew 4:9 stated, “There remained, therefore a rest to the people of God.” However, Hebrews 4:11 stated, “Let us labour, therefore, to enter into that rest, lest any man falls after the same example of unbelief.” When Jesus went to the cross all the work that He came to accomplish, was finish. Now we have to enter into the gospel of grace by faith. However, many could not enter the rest, because those who hear the grace preach did not mix it with faith, but were in unbelief.

Through patience, confidence, and consistency we receive the finish work of Christ, through faith. This requires rest, as, God can’t work on our behave if we don’t have confidence in Him. The main reason some people can’t rest is that they don’t have confidence that God will do, what He said He would do. For example, if I know, that if I sit down on a chair, it will hold me, I will sit without fear, but if I have doubt, I will hesitate, because I have no confident that it will hold me. Likewise, many people; they believe to a point until they have to act it out. Real faith requires confidence.

We also have to employ faith with no short circuit. James 1:2-4 “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith work patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect ad entire, wanting nothing.” Joy comes from what you know, by having confidence, patience will grow by that faith will bring the manifestation.

What we have to understand is that Jesus has already done it all, He already healed us form sickness to health, and from poverty to wealth, all we have to do now is to appropriate the grace that he already completed for us by faith. Faith through Grace we inherit the promises of God.

I agree with you Lilly when you stated “The main reason some people can’t rest is that they don’t have confidence that will do what He says He will do”. I wanted to add that another reason is God takes too long for some people or he does not do things the way they want it to be–they want to do it their way.

Lilly, I so agree with you that some Believers are unable to enter into the Rest of God due to their lack of confidence in Him. Often we can get caught up in wanting to help God and we take things into our own hands. But thank you for our growth, knowledge in Him and His word we can Rest in Him and have confidence that He’s able to keep His promises to us.

In the Amp. He 4:3For we who believe that is we who personally, trust and confidently rely on God that rest [so we have His inner peace now because we are confident in our salvation]that why Christian shouldn’t suffer because Jesus Christ did all of that for us when he went to he cross , So why must we suffer again . But some time Christian carry all their burden on their head and God take away their burden already so you should inner into god rest and it’s take work to keep in the rest of he most high Jesus Christ and’His Heavenly Father.

Very true Raphael, many Christians are going through the same suffering Jesus already went through for us and paid the price for. More and more I ask myself why? Is it because we got to labor to enter that rest? It takes confidence, patience, and persistence in order to enter into that rest to received the manifestation. That’s the type of suffering we as believers must go through, in order to receive the promises of God.

How Do We Labor Into the Rest of Jesus

According to Hebrews 4:3, teaches that those who believe God enter into His rest. Joyce Meyer, In the Everyday Life Bible stated, ” Experiencing His rest is one way you can tell whether you are really in faith, or whether you are just trying to have faith. When you truly enter into the realm of faith, you enter into the rest of God. Rest is freedom from excessive reasoning, struggle, fear, inner turmoil, worry and frustration, which develop because of our working to do what only God can do. Being in God’s rest is not necessarily resting from physical activity, but resting in confidence in the midst of everything that goes on in life. It is a rest of the soul where the mind, will, and emotions are at peace. You can rest in God because you know He will take care of you and meet your needs. You do not know when or how, and you really do not care because you are enjoying the life you have right now while God works on your problem. God wants us to live at peace and in His rest. But in order for us to do that, we need ‘believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him’ (Hebrews 11:6). I encourage you to quit trying to control everyone and everything around you and simply allow God to do for you what only He can do. No matter what you face, God wants to help you and give you rest.”

In my opinion, Hebrew 4:11 wants us believers to never give up regardless of the circumstances believe God promises through our trials and tribulations as well as the good times. However, the end result is resting in Him not wavering in our faith through unbelief or disobedience. For example, I once saw a picture of peace in a drawing whereas there was a storm with thunder and lightning in the background and the sea was rough; however, the bird was calmly sleeping–resting in his nest. We will experience this rest if we do not give up.

Amen Sister Parmesha,

Well said. I completely agree with. The rest of Jesus is one of the greatest gifts God gave us, but we’ll only have it if we stand on God’s word. As pasror taught us…God’s puts his word even above his own name…meaning we can bank on it…It will never fail us….Thanks so much for your insight.

According to Hebrews 4:11 “Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” If we are in unbelief, doubt and not operating in faith we can never into that rest of the finished work of Jesus. God did not create us to labor out of fear, worry, care, or stress, he created us to operate out of rest, we can rest in the finished work of Jesus that took place two thousand years ago on Calvary’s cross.

We don’t have to labor for what God has already provided for us in his finished work: healing, deliverance, prosperity, soundness, peace and joy; we will only receive his provisions out of rest, they will only manifest when we rest. We also have to apply faith in entering his rest especially when we are faced with adversity, or when the cares of this world over whelms us. James 1:2-4. It’s through our faith and patience that we will inherit the promises.

We can rejoice in the hope that God already made a way out of no way, and be patient in the tribulation (Romans 12:12) resting in the confidence that God I trust you, I know you got this, you are able, nothing is impossible with you, no matter what it looks like, no matter what the report says, no matter how we feel, all we have to do is tap into his grace with our faith and receive what is already provided for us in his finished work.

I think about Moses, if he wasn’t resting in God, being confident in God, and being obedient to what God told him, he would’ve never been able to deliver the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. When they came to the red sea and Pharaoh and his men behind him, he in the middle, the red sea in front of them, he had to put total trust in God, and just rest in him, and put his faith to work; knowing God already had a plan.

Operating in rest is the highest faith we can operate in, along with worship….

.

Marita, I like when said that His provisions will manifest when we rest. When we work, we produce something but it is not His best. It may be our best, but His best will always trump our best. Most of the time, when we are working and not resting what manifests is stress and anxiety which takes a toll on our health.

Sister Marita, I love the example you used to show how Moses had total and complete trust in God, who he knew as the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Knowing that he had pharaoh on his pursit, the red sea in front of him and the children of Israel all around him. Moses trust was in God was unwavering, beacuse he was a part of the wonderful signs, works and miracles that God did for the children of Israe and knew that he will deliver them. God made a way for them when it seem like there was none. We as new convenant belivers can learn greatly from this book in the bible. About trusting God to make a way out of no way.

Hebrews 4:1 states: “Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest any of you should seem to come short of it. ” Another benefit of the New Covenant is the blessing of being able to enter into ” Rest ” with God. Some Christians today are still unable to enter into the ” rest ” of God due to unbelief.

Hebrews 4:9-10 states: “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is enteref into his rest he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his”. There are many of the belief that we must work hard to receive the blessings afforded us under the New Covenant. That belief is wrong!! “Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief”. Hebrews 4:11

God himself rested after all thst he did of his own works and we too also must “rest”.

Monica, John 3:18 tells us, “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already…” A lot of Christians are still walking around in condemnation and are unable to enter into the rest of the finish works of Jesus. That’s why as believers we have to renew our minds with the Word of God daily.

Unbelief comes from not keeping God’s Word front and center in one’s life. Paying attention to what this life throws at us is a sure formula for defeat. It does take a lot out of you when you lack knowledge and a problem arises and you don’t know what to do. This is where the grace of God comes in because we know only He could have brought us through. Understanding how things work in the Kingdom of God brings comfort and confidence and then the REWARDS! Amen!

The key to laboring to rest in Jesus Christ is to totally submit yourself to God. We need God’s guidance. Being totally dependent on God, will cause us to become successful in the purpose to which God has called us. Hebrew 4:11 says, “Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” The labor to rest is in becoming confident that what God says about us will come to pass. According to Creflo Dollar, “Rest is not inactivity; it is resting while we are working.” When we are at rest in any situation and at any time, we will become stressless, worriless and carefree, knowing that God has already provided a solution to the problems in our lives. Hebrews 4:3 says we can enter into God’s rest, but the works has been finish. Therefore, we are resting in the finish works of Jesus Christ. Creflo Dollar says, “When we operate in rest that is the highest faith you can operate in.” What are the works that were finish? They are healing, deliverance, prosperity, etc. If we have not received these finish works it is due to care, stress, worry and unbelief. He also stated, “You can only receive the manifestation out of rest.” If you have not received these things it is because the level of your faith is low.”

Hebrews 10:35 tells us exactly how to rest in Jesus Christ. It says, “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense (compensation) of reward.” Creflo Dollar says, “Our confidence in the Word is what will escort us into our place of rest. The place of rest is going to put us in the position to receive what has already been done.”

What is needed so that we don’t cast away our confidence? Verse 36 answers this question. “For we have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” Creflo Dollar says, “Patience means to consistently, constantly, be the same about the thing you have confidence about. I use patience to maintain my confidence/faith so that my faith will stay working long enough to produce a harvest.”

In enduring the trials and tribulations of life, we have to know the difference between joy and happiness. Happiness is dependent on what is going on in our lives. Joy is solely dependent on what we know. When problems arise in our lives we should know what the Word says about our situation. As we speak the Word continuously, we will have what we say. This will eventually lead to happiness or comfort. James 1:2-3 says, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” This is how we labor to enter into the finish works of Jesus Christ. If we lack rest and the rewards that come from resting in the finish works of God, it is because we stopped using our faith and decided to make things happen on our own using works.

I got excited when Dr. Dollar made it plain the misunderstanding of the Sabbath. He said the Sabbath day was just a shadow of the real thing. Jesus is the real deal. Just as God rested from His works on the seventh day, the Sabbath, so we are to rest in the finish works of Jesus! Halleluiah!!! No more worries for me for I desire my harvest to manifest now, thank you Jesus.

Donna I agree with Dr. Dollar about the misconception people have about the Sabbath, He shed great light on it, that’s it’s only a shadow of the real deal Jesus. Jesus’s finished work on the cross has provided everything that we need in this life. We can rest in the confidence that it’s available to us; we just have to believe and receive it by faith.

Sister Donna, I agree with you, “You can only receive the manifestation out of rest.” In reading the book “Joy is a Force” by Jerry Savelle, he stated, “Many people have become dependent upon their faith only to find out that it isn’t nearly as developed as they thought it was because they have never developed the other forces of life. That’s why their faith confessions fall to the ground right in front of them, because they haven’t invested the time and effort necessary to develop the forces that cause faith to work.” I believe through adversity is when the “rubber meets the road” you will be able to tell if your faith is well developed by entering into His rest.

Life after the cross should be a time of continual rest for the believer. Hebrews 4:14 reads, “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.” We know that our high priest, Jesus Christ, is not just sitting down at the right had of God. The Word tells us that He is ever making intercession for us with the Father. There was His finished work on the cross (redeeming us from sin and eternal death) and His continual work after the cross. We have a High Priest, an Advocate, an Intercessor, and a Shepherd who is at work for us all the time.

However, when we are working, He is resting. Our work will never produce His results and what we essentially are saying is that we do not trust Him to get the job done. When we try to work out the situations on our own, Galatians 5:4 tells us that we make it so that “Christ is become of no effect unto you (us), whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.”

In order to truly rest in Him, we have to really believe in Him and trust in Him and His promises. This is the part that we have to play. This what the labor is when we are told to “labor to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief” in Hebrews 4:11.

In Deuteronomy 6:10 – 11 God is telling Israel what they will possess when they enter the Promised Land: ” great and goodly cities, which thou buildest not, and houses full of all good things , which thou fillest not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vinyards and olive trees, which thou plantest not..” All the work was already done they just had to go in and possess it. Likewise, Jesus did all the work and is still working on our behalf and all we have to do is rest in it. We are under a new and a better Covenant.

yes sister Stacy, I too understood that when we are working, He is resting. Our work will never produce His results and we need to trust in Him for Godly results. When we try to handle our own affairs, we don’t get God results.

Heb. 4:11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man should fall after the same example of unbelief. The amazing thing about the rest of God is that we don’t have a labor to enter into his rest, just believe. Believe that we can enter into the rest, because of the finished work of Jesus. In this rest there is empowerment, which give us the ability to enter into the rest. Resting is not an inactivity, it is knowing it is already finished on the cross, and to believe and not doubt.

Ex. 8:11 talks about the sabbath day and what it represents. But Dr. Dollar explained to us in Col. 2:16. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon , or the sabbath day. That the sabbath day of the Old Testament is nothing but a shadow of the new sabbath, which is Jesus Christ , it is no longer a day but a person and we as new convenant Christians are living under the new sabbath with Jesus as our sabbath, rest and source.

James 1: 2-3. Say to count it all joy when you fall into temptation. I praise and rejoice in our father that we can have joy in times of trouble and temptation, knowing that it will try our faith and patience. Building up our confidence and trust, beliveing on the finished work of Jesus and trusting , depending on God in all things for our lives. Dr. Dollar stated that joy is not happiness, but happiness will produce joy. Joy comes from what we know about the finished work of Jesus and rejoicing, believing, that we have already received the manifestation of the promises of life after the cross. Enter into his rest with confidence, never with doubt and unbelief. Still caring, worrying and still stressing.

Celise you are so right Joy is not an activity, but a knowing of what has already been taken place in the finished work of Jesus. Even if we are faced with a situation, we can still have joy in the mist of that situation because we have Holy Ghost power that enables us.

Hebrews 4:11 “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” This labour God is requesting in this scripture; is the action for a the believer to rest in work. God has not created us to operate out of stress, worry or care. He created us to operate out of rest. We must incorporate this into our lives and not be disobedience like those who died in the wilderness.

This tied into Pastor Dollar’s sermon concerning resting in the finished works of Jesus, Pastor Dollar talks about rest as an empowerment, rest verses trying to do something to be empowered. But he says believers must understand how to apply this to life. James 4:15 & 16, Pastor Dollar points out believers need God for guidance. They should not say what they are going to do. Believers need God to guide them. This is the revelation believers must get. He points out In Jeremiah 10:23 “Oh Lord, I know that the way of man is in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” He interprets this scripture as, if It is not in man who walketh to directed his steps then the steps of a righteous man are order by the Lord. Believers need to make sure God is directing the steps and not a good idea. God wants us to depend on him. Once a believer is depending on God they will end up in the right places, and trust in God. Living this life of dependence on God is the key to fulfilling successfully that which God has called us to fulfill which is being humble and dependence
In this depended position when a believer is faced with situations they will automatically depended on God for direction. If the doctor gives them a report, or they get a bill, or faced with a situation, the believer will depend on God. Man cannot produce God kind of results unless they are dependent on God. If man is depending on himself, he will not get a God result. if we do not rest, God won’t work, if we rest, God can work. Believers need to depend on God.

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Gives us the power in Christ Jesus to be able to rest with out saying what has come against us. For instance if we get a bad report we shall not worry about what ever the bad report is, we rest in the fact Jesus died so I can rest in that He has already taken care of that issue for me. So I can labor by speaking GODS word in whatever that situation. 1 Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Convinces us rest because He cares for you, but if you worry we fall in unbelief and in sin and it destroys us. But thank God for Grace and the rest of God.

How do we Labor into the Rest of Jesus Per Hebrews 4:11?

“Let us labor therefore to into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” Hebrews 4:11

Laboring into the rest of Jesus as mentioned in Hebrews 4:11 refers to us as Christians living our lives in a way lines up with God’s word. As we know, life will always come with difficulties and challenges, even more so as we try to live according to God’s word. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 describes our struggles… “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed, we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not destroyed….”. In this verse, Paul makes a contrast between the difficulties of life and the rest of Jesus. He illustrates how putting our faith in the Lord keeps us stable and unwavering even in the most difficult times. God put many promises in his word that assure us of his guidance and protection through trials, if we trust in him.

The Father guides us step by step. First, he reassures us that we are not alone in our struggles, and he will never give us more than we can bear. 1 Corinthians 10:13… “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it”. Joseph did this in Genesis 39:12 when he fled from Potiphar’s wife when she tried to seduce him. Next, he tells us the reason why we suffer afflictions, and instructs us to count it all joy. James 1:2-4… “Count it all joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”. Lastly, he promises to restore us. 1 Peter 5:10… “…the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast”.

Layman’s alone has been challenging for me to build my busy life around. I’ve already thought of throwing in the towel many times, we are not even half way through. As I labor in the Lord I try to remember 2 Timothy 2:15…Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. I also hold unto Galatians 6:9… “Let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we fain not”. I praise go every day for his grace to push through.

Jet, there always seem to have things getting in our way when we decide to live our lives for God. But God always has a plan. His yoke is easy. Agreed, we must labor to rest. Having confidence in His word gives us the ability to enter into the rest of God. Hang tight, you’re going to able to look back one day and see that your labor wasn’t in vain. Entering into his rest will provide all the blessings needed to see you through these courses. You can and will do it!!

Praise the Lord, you all did well and I trust that the revelation of how to truly enter into the Rest of Jesus resonate in your hearts. How do we enter in the rest of Jesus, It is to believe. Hebrews 4: 1-4 the people that believe the word of God is the ones who will enter into the rest of Jesus. The people that trust and rely upon God will enter into the rest of Jesus. Entering into the rest was from the beginning, on the seventh day God rested from all his work. Isaiah 30:15 NLT God said “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength”. The place of rest is where everything will work out for you. To enter into the rest you also need confidence. With confidence comes the compensation, your pay day is here when you have confidence in God and his promises for your life. Having confidence is the key in entering into the rest of Jesus. So develop your confidence daily by renewing of your mind with the promises of God. We also have to labor into the rest. How do we labor, we labor by having confidence which gives you strength to go forward and don’t quit. Renewing you mind with the word of God. Exchange your mind and opinion for God’s words Let God’s word change your thinking daily, all the time. Confess the word all the time, confess and decree a thing, meditate on the word ponder on one scripture until you see it, feel it believe it and have the confidence that it will come to pass in your life. Pray, Pray, Prayers builds your confidence and builds you up, hear the word of God, it is powerful it impacts your health; believe in God’s love for you. He loves you with an everlasting love. Put yourself in remembrance that God loves you so doors will open up for you. Be reminded of Hebrews: 1-11 KJV and don’t be in unbelief. Believe when you hear the word, you will profit. Mix the word with faith and believe. When you believe you will enter into the rest. You will not be full of care, worry and stress, rely upon God fully and you will not quit. Believing God’s word and promises for your life will give you the strength to go on in the things of God to fulfill your purpose that you were predestine before you were formed in your mother’s womb. REST and God Rested. You can do it.
